Perry
Lambert, Shihan (Dai) - Chief Instructor
Began
martial arts training in Karate-do
at the O.D.U. Martial Arts Program (headed by Dr. Hiroyuki Hamada) during
his college years at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA from
1986-1990. Originally from Richmond, VA, later returned to his
hometown, and began training in aikido with
Steve Steele, Shihan at Aikido of Richmond in 1993, along with camps
and seminars conducted by Roy Suenaka, Sensei. Moved to Charleston,
SC in '96 to train in Suenaka-ha Tetsugaku-ho Aikido and Matsumura Seito
Hakutsuru Shorin Ryu Karate-do directly under Roy Suenaka.
Became
U.S. Border Patrol Agent in 1998, was stationed in Eagle Pass, TX and
introduced aikido to several students in the Eagle Pass area. Moved to Jacksonville, FL in
2000 and opened what is now known as Shinzui Aikido of Jacksonville.
Reconnected with his first karate teacher, Dr. Hiroyuki Hamada, Hanshi, at
a seminar in 2005 and was awarded Nidan in aikido by Hamada as part of the DNBK (Dai
Nippon Butoku Kai). Received Yondan (4th Degree Black Belt) in
aikido from the Ki
Shin Kai Aikido organization in 2007. Began study of Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu in 2005, and received Blue belt in BJJ
during a seminar conducted by Jonathan Burke in 2006. Continues to
train in BJJ with Sean Beavor, and recognized as blue belt under Sean in 2007.
Lambert: "I posted some of my
training highlights in order to give some credibility to prospective
students about my training background. Ultimately, however, I
am just a beginner - rank is not important."

While wrestling in high school and college
in North Texas, he began martial
arts training in Tae kwon Do in
Dallas Texas training under Allen Steen and
the American Karate Black Belt Association (7 years). After joining the
United States Air Force, he practiced Kick Boxing, Self Defense,
Judo, and
Fencing at various Air Force assignments. Began training in
aikido
in 2002 under Perry Lambert as part of the Ki Shin Kai Aikido organization.

Former US
Army Ranger. Left the service in 1998 and first began practicing Aikido
in 1999. Moved to
Jacksonville in 2000 and resumed training in aikido at Aikido of
Jacksonville in 2003. "My current training goal is to maximize
my skill at Ukemi Waza. I have continued to train at Aikido of
Jacksonville because of the quality of instruction, the character
of the yudansha, and the effectiveness of the waza. I feel I am now
actually only just beginning my path in Aikido."
